Softball Game Preview: Ballard Memorial Bombers vs. Crittenden County Rockets

The Ballard Memorial Bombers will venture away from home to challenge the Crittenden County Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crittenden County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ballard Memorial, who comes in off a win.

Ballard Memorial will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Marshall County, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bombers came out on top against the Marshals by a score of 6-3 on Thursday.

M Bohde spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, A Alexander was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. M Nichols also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Crittenden County fell victim to Livingston Central and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 10-0. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ballard Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Crittenden County, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Ballard Memorial took their victory against Crittenden County in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
