Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mount View

Mount View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-10 win over the Montcalm Generals. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-9 win back in April.

Phoebe Dudgeon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 contests.

In other batting news, Mount View got a massive performance out of Shiann Carter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Carter a new career-high. Krislyn York also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mount View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Mount View's record is now 18-7. As for Montcalm, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

As of now, neither Mount View nor the Generals have any future games scheduled.
