Softball Recap: Cimarron Drops Season-High Score on Holcomb

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cimarron). They put the hurt on the Holcomb Longhorns with a sharp 14-4 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Bluejays have won by exactly ten runs.

Quinn Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Yesenia Garfio was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brenna Hayes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Cimarron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Cimarron back to even at 5-5. As for Holcomb, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Cimarron will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Ness City at 4:00 p.m. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.25 runs per game on average), something the Bluejays will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Holcomb, they will take on Spearville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
