Volleyball Recap: Sierra Chieftains vs. Chowchilla Tribe

After flying high against Torres on Thursday, Sierra came back down to earth. The Chieftains took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chowchilla Tribe on Friday. The Chieftains were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tribe apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Mia Bautista paced Sierra's offense, picking up seven kills. Bautista got some help from Brooke Gibson and her ten assists.

Chowchilla was led to victory by April Miller and Emily Grissom. Miller had 14 digs, while Grissom had nine digs. Those nine digs gave Grissom a new career-high. Destanee Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Chowchilla, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Coincidentally, Sierra and Chowchilla will both be playing Madera the next time they take the court. The Tribe will head out to face the Coyotes at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Chieftains will play them later in the day, at 1:30 p.m.
