Softball Recap: Wadsworth Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wadsworth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dalton Bulldogs 3-2. That's two games straight that the Grizzlies have won by just one run.

Lorene Bennett 2025 spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lauren Ball 2025 was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples and one run. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Maddy Hostettler 2025 was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Wadsworth has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Dalton, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-10.

Wadsworth and Dalton are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Grizzlies will take on Olmsted Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dalton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Holmes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
