Basketball Game Preview: Black River Pirates vs. Firelands Falcons

Black River hasn't had much luck against Firelands recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Black River Pirates will challenge the Firelands Falcons at 1:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Black River is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 20th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Wellington and fell 58-21. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Firelands' good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to Columbia 45-41.

Black River's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Firelands, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.

Black River took a serious blow against Firelands in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 53-10. Can Black River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
