Ponca had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats by a score of 54-41 on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ponca got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emerson Ehlers out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Brown, who shot 71% from the field on her way to 12 points and seven boards.

Ponca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hartington-Newcastle only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Hartington-Newcastle lost, don't look at Vayda Lippert. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine rebounds.
