Basketball Game Preview: Rensselaer Central Bombers vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights

Rensselaer Central hasn't had much luck against Lafayette Central Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. After both having extra time off, both will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 8:00 p.m. Rensselaer Central will be strutting in after a victory while Lafayette Central Catholic will be coming in after a defeat.

Rensselaer Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on South Newton with a sharp 68-46 win two weeks ago. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bombers considering their 29-point performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Central Catholic lost to Rossville on the road by a 69-50 margin last Saturday.

Rensselaer Central will have to contain Mikey Stapleton as he made an impact in Lafayette Central Catholic's last game. He went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards Stapleton has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Metzger, who posted five points and seven assists.

Rensselaer Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Rensselaer Central lost to Lafayette Central Catholic on the road by a decisive 59-43 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Rensselaer Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
