Basketball Preview: C. Milton Wright Mustangs vs. Arundel Wildcats
C. Milton Wright is on a six-game streak of home wins, while the Wildcats are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The C. Milton Wright Mustangs will take on the Arundel Wildcats at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, C. Milton Wright strolled past the Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 75-57. Given C. Milton Wright's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Cougars are ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
C. Milton Wright can attribute much of their success to Cayne Woodland, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists, and Dylan Sander, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Woodland posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Larry Thompson, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Arundel was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 71-70 to the Seahawks.
C. Milton Wright's win bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Arundel, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3.
