Stafford had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Hitchcock on Friday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Stafford's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16, 25-14.

Stafford's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stafford will venture away from home to challenge Carnegie Vanguard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hitchcock, they will take on Texas City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
