Basketball Recap: Acton-Boxborough Comes Up Short

Acton-Boxborough and Central squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Acton-Boxborough had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Central Golden Eagles, falling 69-34. While losing is never fun, the Revolution can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked ninth).

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angela Hector, who shot 60% from the field en route to 12 points and six rebounds. Hector is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games she's played. Jai-Lyn Garvin-Martin was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Acton-Boxborough's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-14. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.7 points on average over those games. As for Central, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Acton-Boxborough does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central, they have already played their next game, a 63-44 win against Westford Academy on the 4th.
