Softball Game Preview: Coral Shores Hurricanes vs. Marathon Dolphins

The Coral Shores Hurricanes will head out to challenge the Marathon Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Shores has given up an average of 19.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Coral Shores lost 18-8 to Somerset Academy South Homestead two weeks ago. Coral Shores has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Marathon came up short against Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart on Thursday, falling 11-4.

Elianys Roque made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Daniuska Perdomo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Roque wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Marathon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Marathon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Coral Shores, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coral Shores came out on top in a nail-biter against Marathon when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coral Shores since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
