Basketball Game Preview: Crete-Monee Warriors vs. Kankakee Kays

Crete-Monee is 1-9 against Kankakee since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Crete-Monee Warriors will welcome the Kankakee Kays at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Crete-Monee took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Joliet Central 47-26. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Steelmen are ranked 578th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Kankakee against Thornwood on Tuesday as the squad secured an 81-47 win. The Kays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Crete-Monee has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Kankakee, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Crete-Monee couldn't quite finish off Kankakee in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 56-54. Can Crete-Monee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
