Basketball Recap: Emery Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Canyon View came into Tuesday's match looking for another win against Emery, but Katelyn Nielson wouldn't allow it. The Emery Spartans snuck past the Canyon View Falcons with a 59-53 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Nielson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was her ninth in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Skylee Guymon, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Canyon View still got an impressive performance from Maylee Spencer, who posted 16 points along with five boards and five steals. Spencer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season. Bethanee Vargas was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Emery has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Canyon View, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 15-5 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emery will face off against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Canyon View, they will square off against Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
