Softball Game Preview: McCutcheon Mavericks vs. Harrison Raiders

McCutcheon hasn't had much luck against Harrison recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mavericks will square off against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. McCutcheon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

McCutcheon's last matchup with Westfield could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Mavericks came up short against the Shamrocks, falling 13-4. The Mavericks' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Mallorie Beutel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Harrison fell victim to Carmel and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greyhounds.

Lilly Kiefer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

McCutcheon's record now sits at 11-14. As for Harrison, their record is now 8-12.

McCutcheon couldn't quite get it done against Harrison in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 5-1. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
