Baseball Recap: Hollister's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hollister extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 13-7 in the process. They skirted past the Bellarmine College Prep Bells 5-3. For the Haybalers, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 victory the Bells walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Jake Esparza, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Donovan Price also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

As for Bellarmine College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Bellarmine College Prep's side, they got a good showing from Preston Pera, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Pera has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bellarmine College Prep saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Beyah, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Hollister will host Palma at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bellarmine College Prep, they will welcome Los Altos at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bells 3, the Eagles 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
