Basketball Game Preview: University City Lions vs. 21st Century Charter Cougars

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the University City Lions challenge the 21st Century Charter Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

University City will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Hazelwood Central, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. University City secured a 61-57 W over Hazelwood Central on Friday.

Meanwhile, 21st Century Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Father Tolton by a score of 68-65. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since December 15, 2023.

University City will need focus on slowing down Terrence Hayes, one of several 21st Century Charter players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 of 17 en route to 15 points along with six assists and six boards. Hayes' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Lemetrius Williams was another key player, going 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

University City's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for 21st Century Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
