Basketball Recap: Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

If Rio Grande wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Carter Monroe. Everything went the Valley Vikings' way against the Rio Grande Ravens on Saturday as the Valley Vikings made off with a 61-39 victory thanks in part to Monroe, who shot 8-for-13 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten boards. Those 29 points gave him a new career-high.

Valley's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Rio Grande, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Valley will welcome Hope Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Rio Grande, they will head out on the road to take on Atrisco Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
