Basketball Recap: Bland County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Danielle Sanders and Tinley Worley

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bland County can now relate to. They fell 72-65 to the Narrows Green Waves on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Waves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-57 back in December of 2024.

Tinley Worley and Danielle Sanders certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Worley went 11-for-22 en route to 26 points and three steals, while Sanders went 5-for-7 on her way to 11 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The game was Worley's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was McKenna Hollis, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bland County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Bland County's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Narrows, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Bland County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Narrows, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-45 defeat against Fort Chiswell on the 27th.
