Softball Game Preview: Providence Academy Patriots vs. Lincoln Wolves

The Providence Academy Patriots will head out to challenge the Lincoln Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Providence Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Union Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Patriots blew past the Eagles 19-9. The victory was nothing new for the Patriots as they're now sitting on five straight.

Ellie Keen was a standout: she scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Griggs, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.

Providence Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lincoln came into Monday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They never let West Fork get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolves considering their two-run performance the game before.

Providence Academy pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their record is now 6-7.

Providence Academy suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Lincoln in their previous matchup back in March of 2020. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
