It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but McMinn County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Rhea County Golden Eagles 6-5. That's two games straight that the Cherokees have won by just one run.
Bailey Derrick spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Barnett was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Trinity Riedel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
McMinn County pushed their record up to 6-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
