Basketball Recap: Sturgis Trojans vs. Concord Yellowjackets

Sturgis lost against Concord back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Sturgis Trojans received a blow as they fell 49-33 to the Concord Yellowjackets. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Concord to victory were Connor Stevens and Jett Smith. Stevens dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards, while Smith went 5 for 10 en route to 11 points along with six assists and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Stevens has scored at least a third of Concord's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrell Dean Jr., who posted six points and three steals.

Sturgis' loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Concord, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Sturgis and Concord could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Sturgis will square off against Berrien Springs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday down 339 places (436 vs. 97). Similarly, Concord (ranked 319th) will meet Stockbridge (ranked 140th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
