Baseball Recap: Smith County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Monterey last Tuesday, Smith County came back down to earth. The Owls fell just short of the Upperman Bees by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Owls in their meetings with the Bees: they've now lost six in a row.

Smith County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Claywell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Smith County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Upperman, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith County will face off against York Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Upperman, they will challenge Cumberland County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Jets have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
