Football Recap: Casteel Falls Short Against Ranked ALA - Queen Creek + How To Watch

Casteel faced ALA - Queen Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Colts came up short against the Patriots, falling 41-21. The Colts' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Casteel still got an impressive performance from Tee Smith, who rushed for 116 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 284 yards and one TD.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead ALA - Queen Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Britton Dewitt, who threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Dewitt is becoming a predictor of the Patriots' success: when he posts at least 250 passing yards the team is 2-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Khalil Bender did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 162 receiving yards.

Casteel's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for ALA - Queen Creek, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Casteel will challenge Brophy College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
