Wheeler has gone a perfect 10-0 against Tremont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Wheeler will square off against Tremont at 4:30 p.m. Wheeler is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Wheeler had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Hickory Flat on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 20-4 win. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Gauge Walker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Walker was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Wheeler got a massive performance out of Bonds Stephens, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Brayden Edwards was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Wheeler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, Tremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-3 to Potts Camp. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.
Tremont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Crenshaw, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Brayden Garrett also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Tremont's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Wheeler, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.
Tremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wheeler has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. It's a different story for Tremont, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Wheeler's hitters?
Wheeler skirted past Tremont 10-9 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wheeler since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
