Baseball Game Preview: South Park Eagles vs. South Allegheny Gladiators

The South Park Eagles will challenge the South Allegheny Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so South Allegheny's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

South Park is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Burgettstown just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, South Allegheny won against East Allegheny on Monday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Gladiators never let the Wild Cats get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The matchup marked the Gladiators' most dominant victory of the season.

The win made it two in a row for South Allegheny and bumps their season record up to 4-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for South Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.

South Park couldn't quite get it done against South Allegheny in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 12-7. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
