Softball Game Preview: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. Lee Central Stallions

Lamar has gone a perfect 3-0 against Lee Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Silver Foxes will welcome the Stallions at 5:30 p.m. Lamar is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Lamar fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Darlington on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 10-9. The Silver Foxes' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Abby McManus spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taylor Guinn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Scarbrough, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lee Central fell victim to Lewisville and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 18-0 to the Lions. The Stallions have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lee Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Lee Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lamar has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Lee Central, though, as they've only averaged .361. Will they be able to contain Lamar's hitters?

Everything went Lamar's way against Lee Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, as Lamar made off with a 22-2 victory. Do the Silver Foxes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stallions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
