Baseball Recap: Summers County's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Summers County can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They never let the Greenbrier West Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The Bobcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cavaliers, too.

Colten Jones was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Summers County: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Holland, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Summers County's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Greenbrier West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Summers County has already played their next contest (against St. Joseph Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Greenbrier West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-7 loss against Mount Hope Christian Academy on the 25th.
