Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Christian Takes Down Ranked Perry

Gilbert Christian faced Perry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Knights narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pumas 2-1.

Lillie Duitsman paced Gilbert Christian's offense, picking up ten kills. Duitsman got some help from Sidney Loth and her 24 assists. Shay Loth controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Perry's loss came despite strong showings from Kyla Clausen and Kail Shill. Clausen had 11 digs and two aces, while Shill had 15 assists and five digs.

Gilbert Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 20-5 record this season. As for Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-12.

Gilbert Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Chaparral on the 27th. As for Perry, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against St. Henry on the 27th.
