Baseball Game Preview: Blair Broncos vs. Fletcher Wildcats

Blair is 0-4 against Fletcher since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Broncos will host the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m.

Blair lost 13-6 to Sayre on Tuesday.

Blake Martin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Grant Peterson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Fletcher waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wolverines a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly ten runs.

Nathan Mahan was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four matches. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fletcher let Rayce Stoll and EJ Squyres run wild. Stoll scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Squyres scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Fletcher is undefeated when Stoll posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise. Elijah Cagle was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Fletcher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fletcher's win bumped their record up to 15-11. As for Blair, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
