Football Game Preview: Monte Vista Christian Mustangs vs. Scotts Valley Falcons + How To Watch

Monte Vista Christian and Scotts Valley are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2017, but not for long. The Mustangs will face off against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Monte Vista Christian has given up an average of 30.2 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monte Vista Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past North Monterey County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-34. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

A big part of Monte Vista Christian's win came down to the chemistry between Evan Vessey and his top target Boston Ashe. Vessey threw for 449 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt while Ashe gained 321 total yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Ashe a new career-high in receiving yards (241). Jordan Ramirez was another key player, gaining 115 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Scotts Valley entered their game against San Lorenzo Valley on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Falcons took a 13-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cougars since Saturday.

Monte Vista Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Scotts Valley, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

Monte Vista Christian skirted past Scotts Valley 25-23 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
