Baseball Game Preview: Ledyard Colonels vs. New London Whalers

The Ledyard Colonels will head out on the road to challenge the New London Whalers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Ledyard managed to slip by Wheeler the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Colonels came up short against the Lions on Tuesday, falling 11-1.

Owen Williams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, New London came tearing into Wednesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Eagles. That's two games straight that the Whalers have won by exactly four runs.

New London's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ledyard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Ledyard might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from New London in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Colonels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
