Sugar-Salem had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 58-31 win over the Shelley Russets. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Diggers had established a 20-point advantage.

Sugar-Salem got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andee Petterson out in front who shot 54% from the field to rack up 18 points and six assists. Petterson is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 57% in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Hallie Llewellyn, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points.

Sugar-Salem didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-50 win against Bear Lake on the 20th. As for Shelley, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-21 victory against Century on the 20th.
