Recap: Rockledge Raiders vs. Mainland Buccaneers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Rockledge Raiders, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 22-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers on Friday. While losing is never fun, Rockledge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Mainland is ranked 12th).
Traven Green threw for 36 yards while completing 100% of his passes. Jaylen Heyward was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mainland can attribute much of their success to Dennis Murray jr., who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Rockledge has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Mainland, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.
Rockledge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mainland will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sebring at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Sebring: 8, Mainland: 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
