Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Cathedral City

With a playoff win on the line, Cathedral City rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Orange Panthers. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won four matches in a row.

Sayuri Toledo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

The win got Cathedral City back to even at 14-14. As for Orange, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-12.

As of now, neither Cathedral City nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
