Baseball Recap: Palm Springs Indians vs. Rancho Mirage Rattlers
Palm Springs had lost ten straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-20 to make it 11. They fell just short of the Rancho Mirage Rattlers by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-5 defeat two weeks ago.
Rogelio Jacquez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Baggett, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
As for Rancho Mirage, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
On Rancho Mirage's side, Zachary Berntsen looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Berntsen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ezra Aparicio was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Marcos Ceja Jr., who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Palm Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rancho Mirage, they will take on Shadow Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rattlers are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
