Softball Recap: Northern Wins Going Away Against Thomas Stone

Northern got themselves on the board against Thomas Stone on Thursday, but Thomas Stone never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 19-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.

Miranda Twigg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Northern got a massive performance out of Cheyenne Burger, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Melody Russell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

The victory got Northern back to even at 1-1. As for Thomas Stone, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
