Baseball Game Preview: Whittier RVT Wildcats vs. Pentucket Regional

The Whittier RVT Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge Pentucket Regional at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Whittier RVT's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matchups, but Thursday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Whittier RVT managed to slip by Shawsheen Valley Tech the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wildcats lost 12-1 to the Rams on Wednesday.

Whittier RVT saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was William Heisler, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Heisler also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Pentucket Regional got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lynnfield 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for Pentucket Regional.

Patrick Stewart tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Ted Cloutier and Tanner Kamuda did most of the damage at the plate: Cloutier went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Kamuda went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Meyer, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Pentucket Regional's record now sits at 3-4. As for Whittier RVT, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Whittier RVT came out on top in a nail-biter against Pentucket Regional in their previous meeting back in June of 2015, sneaking past 9-8. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pentucket Regional turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
