Volleyball Recap: Crystal River Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Crystal River, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the North Marion Colts on Thursday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Crystal River was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least 12 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 22-25, 25-13, 25-12.

Crystal River had a senior duo take command as Violet Flynn had 13 digs and two assists and Athena Childs had seven digs and two aces. Flynn is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Cahli Cook also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Crystal River was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests.

Crystal River's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for North Marion, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Crystal River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against East Lake on the 3rd. As for North Marion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Lake Weir on the 6th.
