Football Recap: Independence Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Independence's offense. They were beaten by the Windsor Jaguars 44-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the 76ers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 891st, while the Jaguars are ranked 153rd).

Windsor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Nowlin led the charge by picking up 76 receiving yards and two scores. Those 76 receiving yards gave Nowlin a new career-high. Fernando Lopez got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Independence now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Windsor, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Independence will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Yerba Buena at 7:15 p.m. on the 25th. As for Windsor, they will face off against Dublin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
