Softball Game Preview: Poston Butte Broncos vs. Crismon Rattlers

For the second straight game, Poston Butte will face off against Crismon. The Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Rattlers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Poston Butte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12 runs per game this season.

Poston Butte lost 13-7 to Crismon on Tuesday. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Crismon's part, Emma Phelps tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Skylar DaCosta, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Isabella Salado, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run.

Crismon lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

The win (which was Crismon's fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Poston Butte, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Poston Butte has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crismon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
