Basketball Recap: Bethany Christian Comes Up Short

Bethany Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were dealt a 60-7 defeat at the hands of the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles. Bruins fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Friday.

Ellie Morris was Bethany Christian's leading scorer, having posted three points. Cori Chupp held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Kendra Kern took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The game was the first time they have beaten Bethany Christian on their court since December 21, 2019.

Lily Maxwell had an outrageously good game as she made all 7 shots she took racking up 19 points and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Yordy, who posted eight points along with six assists and four steals.

Coming up, Bethany Christian will face off against Central Noble at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they have already played their next game, a 75-19 victory against Argos on the 15th.
