With a playoff win on the line, Maize South rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the De Soto Wildcats with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering Maize South have won ten contests by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maize South pushed their record up to 14-1-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those eight matchups. As for De Soto, with the loss, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 11-8-1.

Maize South and De Soto are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Mavericks will square off against Blue Valley Southwest at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for De Soto, they will take on Newton at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
