Softball Game Preview: Pieper Warriors vs. Alamo Heights Mules

The Pieper Warriors will square off against the Alamo Heights Mules at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alamo Heights took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Pieper, who comes in off a win.

Pieper barely beat Boerne-Champion the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 15-4 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Boerne hit Alamo Heights with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mules fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 6-5. The Mules have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Olivia Malitz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Katie Boyd was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Pieper has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Alamo Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 10-19.

Pieper got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Alamo Heights by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mules turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
