Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Comes Up Short

Mt. Pleasant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Jeannette Jayhawks 81-22. The Vikings lost against the Jayhawks in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 61-23 score last time.

Kymone Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jeannette, going 8 of 12 en route to 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Powell, who went 6 of 12 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Jeannette, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0.

Mt. Pleasant will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Geibel Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 21, 2025. Jeannette and Connellsville will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
