Baseball Recap: Connersville Takes a Loss

Connersville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Castle Trojans. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Connersville got a good showing from Jay McMullen, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave McMullen a new career-low.

At the plate, Landyn Geise was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Connersville's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for New Castle, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-16.

Connersville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 defeat against Greensburg on the 19th. As for New Castle, they have also already played their next matchup, a 12-1 loss against New Palestine on the 21st.
