Basketball Game Preview: Roxboro Community Bulldogs vs. Pamlico County Hurricanes

The Roxboro Community Bulldogs will take on the Pamlico County Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Roxboro Community is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Roxboro Community is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-43 victory over Cape Hatteras. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roxboro Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karrie Obie out in front who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. That's the most points Obie has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katherine-Kaey 'Katie' Mann, who scored 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Roxboro Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pamlico County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Clover Garden School 62-40 on Tuesday. The Hurricanes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Roxboro Community pushed their record up to 20-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points over those games. As for Pamlico County, their win bumped their record up to 22-5.
