League recap: Morgan County tops Oconee County to extend winning streak

AAA Region 8 recap October 1, 2013

Morgan County extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 8 this week by beating Oconee County, 41-29. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bulldogs.

Elbert County took down East Jackson 54-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mecole Hardman threw for 31 yards and ran for 120 yards in the win.

North Oconee's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tate Adcock threw for 151 yards and Garrett Greene had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Kawon Bryant contributed 371 yards. Brandon Gaubert helped North Oconee's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.

The Titans' dynamic duo of Adcock and Greene proved to be unstoppable against Jackson County, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gaubert helped North Oconee's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 57 yards.

Bryant was a force in the backfield as North Oconee beat the Panthers.

Bryant was a passing and rushing force as Terry Tuley's team topped Jackson County. Bryant's favorite target this week was Greene, who caught 3 passes for 55 yards.

Benji Harrison's team's Jacob Lewis and Xavier Harper led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Lewis has thrown for 783 yards this season, while Harper has 20 catches for 381 yards. The Titans' Bryant leads the league in rushing yards with 1,107.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Morgan County takes on North Oconee. Kenny Moore's team is currently in first, while the Titans are in third.

North Oconee led AAA Region 8 in scoring this week by notching 62 points on the Panthers. Bryant ran for 371 yards during the win.
