Countryside Christian is 0-9 against Saint Francis Catholic since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. On Monday, Countryside Christian didn't have quite enough to beat Oak Hall and fell 4-3.
Clay Dees put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Dees wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jace Reustle, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Hunter Burgess, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Saint Francis Catholic waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-3 win. Considering the Wolves have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Saint Francis Catholic got a massive performance out of Sawyer Williams, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave Williams a new career-high. Chris Durstine was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Saint Francis Catholic pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Countryside Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both Countryside Christian and Saint Francis Catholic just can't seem to miss. Countryside Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Saint Francis Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
