Football Recap: Smiths Station Skates Past JAG with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smiths Station). They breezed past the JAG Jaguars to the tune of 62-0 on Tuesday. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Smiths Station didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kennedi Treadwell, Malayah Williams, Svetlana Cervantes, and Janiya Jones picked up one apiece. Treadwell got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory (which was Smiths Station's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for JAG, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Smiths Station is set to take on their familiar foe Montgomery Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 5.2, the Knights 10.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, JAG will face off against rival Central at 6:30 p.m. on October 21.
